What began in 2008 as Le Tour de Ventnor has grown into one of the most recognizable early-summer events on Absecon Island. Organized collaboratively by the Ventnor Business Association, Margate Business Association, Borough of Longport, and Atlantic City, the event continues to showcase the best parts of the Downbeach communities — ocean views, boardwalk energy, local businesses, and a strong sense of community spirit.
The VBA remains deeply involved in helping bring the annual ride to life each year, supporting an event that not only attracts hundreds of riders and visitors to the island, but also highlights the businesses, restaurants, and neighborhoods that make Ventnor such a unique destination.
The family-friendly ride covers approximately 12 miles along some of the most scenic stretches of Absecon Island. Riders begin behind the Ventnor Library near Newport Avenue before traveling north through Atlantic City, turning around near Showboat, and continuing back through Ventnor, Margate, and Longport.
Unlike a competitive race, Le Tour de Downbeach is designed for riders of all ages and skill levels. Families, casual riders, longtime cyclists, and first-time participants all come together for a relaxed morning ride featuring ocean breezes, boardwalk views, and a wave of bright yellow commemorative shirts stretching across the island.

Le Tour de Downbeach has become one of the signature “start of summer” traditions for the island. Riders gather early in the morning near the beach, friends reconnect before the ride begins, and families line the boards as the event rolls through each town.
The event wraps up with a community barbecue celebration at Tomatoe’s Restaurant in Margate, helping support local businesses while giving participants a chance to relax and enjoy the afternoon together after the ride.
From longtime riders to first-time families, Le Tour de Downbeach continues to bring the Downbeach communities together every summer. The Ventnor Business Association is proud to once again help support an event that celebrates local businesses, healthy living, and the unique energy of our shore towns.
