Local Business Doesn’t Stop at the City Line

Ventnor businesses serve people from across Downbeach and the mainland. Building relationships in neighboring communities can help your business become the name someone remembers when a customer asks for a recommendation.

Think about the possibilities: a retailer meeting a partner for a holiday promotion, a restaurant connecting with an event organizer, or a home-service business introducing itself to someone who regularly needs trusted local contractors. These are examples of the conversations worth starting.

With holiday shopping and the winter season approaching, this is a useful moment to compare plans, trade ideas and discover where your businesses might complement each other. Come ready to listen as well as introduce yourself.

A Shore Setting With Nearly a Century of History

Built in 1927, Brigantine Golf Links was designed by Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek. Its Scottish links character includes gently rolling terrain, native marsh and bay views, according to NJ Golf’s course profile.

The City of Brigantine purchased the property in 2002. Today, the course provides a distinctive local backdrop for an evening focused on the region’s business community.

Make the Most of the Evening

  • Choose one goal. Are you looking for referrals, a supplier, a promotional partner or a few new local contacts?
  • Bring your contact information. Business cards or a digital contact card make it easy to stay in touch.
  • Keep your introduction simple. Explain what your business does and who it helps.
  • Ask about their business. “What are you planning for the holidays?” or “What kind of referrals are useful to you?” can lead to a productive conversation.
  • Follow up afterward. Mention something you discussed and suggest a next step when there’s a clear fit.

If this is your first mixer, keep it manageable: meet three people, learn about their businesses and leave with a reason to reconnect.
